Blue Cow Cafe, Plaza Damas.

In my search for good pet-friendly restaurants, I discovered Blue Cow Cafe at Plaza Damas. Formerly known as Fogal Meat Market, it was renamed as Blue Cow Cafe but the restaurant decor and menu has not changed much.

#1 – Blue Cow Cafe, Plaza Damas.

Situated in the labyrinth that is Plaza Damas, we had trouble locating it at first. In fact our first time there almost did not happen because after walking for about 45 minutes searching for the restaurant I had wanted to give up. Fortunately, the boo managed to find it in the nick of time. I’m glad we did because it has become our regular haunt for good ol’ pork dishes.

There’s an impressive meat deli in the restaurant which can render even the most stoic diner excited.

#2 – Meat haven.

I love the soups. Always piping hot and enough to be shared between 2 people. It was a rainy day and we decided to share a bowl of spicy tomato soup. It was very good, it’s got a bite to it and it wasn’t too sour.

#3 – Spicy tomato soup.

We’ve tried the pea & ham soup and also the creamy mushroom soup. Both were also very delicious. For my main, I ordered roast pork with apple sauce. I order this every time I visit Blue Cow Cafe.

#4 – Roast pork with apple sauce.

#5 – The fragrant apple sauce.

My favourite part of this dish is the crackling that come with. Fresh, delicious, crunchy, fatty pork crackling.

#6 – Pork crackling.

#7 – That’s a look of sheer happiness.

The babber ordered fish & chips.

#8 – Fish & chips.

According to him, it was very good. Batter was crispy and the fish was flaky. The chips were fresh and good.

#9 – Even Charlie approves.

We’ve been there half a dozen times and were happy every time. One thing though, trust me and don’t ever order the kebab. Everything else, the pies, the ribs, the dessert, the lamb stew were all delicious.

#10 – Christmas Roast Turkey.

They even have xmas roast turkey for order, and I intend to try it out this year.

#11 – The patio area of Blue Cow Cafe.

Price wise it is very reasonable. For instance, the big bowl of soup is about RM11. My roast pork with apple sauce is just shy of RM20.

The atmosphere would actually be pretty good if it weren’t for the nearby construction works. But that’s not a good enough reason to avoid Blue Cow Cafe. For a pork and pet lover, it’s a perfect place to go.

Everyone needs a hotdog.

I love tv suppers. The satisfaction of sitting on your arse, eating off a plate propped on your belly while watching banal reality shows…simply sublime.

We’re currently on an America’s Next Top Model marathon and we’ve developed an affinity for homemade hot dogs. You’d be surprised as to how easy it is to make these guilty pleasures.

#1 – America’s Next Top Model.

You’d need the hotdog buns, frankfurters, mustard, ketchup, cheese slices and black pepper.

#2 – Hotdog buns.

#3 – Frankfurters.

#4 – Mustard. More authentic to use American mustard I suppose but I’ve only got English mustard which I actually prefer because it gives more kick.

#5 – Coarse black pepper.

#6 – Ketchup. I insist on Heinz.

#7 – Cheese slices.

First of all, dump the franks into a pot of boiling water to cook.

#8 – Boil the weiners till cook.

#9 – Steam the hotdog buns for 10 minutes. You can skip this step if you want but we felt like going all the way.

#10 – Slather some mustard onto the bun then put a slice of cheese on it.

#11 – Now throw in the frank, squeeze over some ketchup and a dash of black pepper.

#12 – Voila! American hot dog for America’s Next Top Model.

#13 – If you must know, I had three of those.

Destroying my self-esteem watching ANTM? Please, all I need is a juicy hot dog to rescue my day. I recommend it to all women and men too.

Dog ladies.

Daddy was in China on one of his cheapass but kickass golfing trips, one brother vacationing in Kuantan with his girlfriend and my baby brother toiling for $$$ in Mcdonald’s, so Mummy dropped by over the weekends with Sisi and Brad.

#1 – The original dog lady with, [L to R] Brad, Sisi, Charlie.

Was nice to have my mom over. I finally got to speak in cantonese ching ching chong chong away and got my fill of family gossips for the month.

#2 – This is Charlie’s behsong look.

Brad and Charlie are still not friends. It’s a pity cause they’re so lovely together as puppies. Maybe after cutting Charlie’s balls off the situation would not be so hostile anymore.

#3 – Brad hiding from Charlie by trying to blend into my mom’s trousers.

Since spaying Sisi, she’s not so moody anymore and she’s gained a bit more weight. I’m so glad she’s looking much healthier these days.

#4 – Sisi says hi.

And I think this is me post-nose excavating, rolling the nugget into a ball of gold.

#5 – Just kidding.
