Happy Chinese New Year 2013

2013 CNY is so different for me because G and I have to give angpows out for the first time!

All in all, I only received a total of 4 angpows this year – from my dad, mum, popo and awesome kaufu/kaumou :)

First day of CNY was spent with my parents and some relatives. Good thing I married a white man…I can still spend CNY with my family :D

So mitchy matchy? Cause I did the shopping :P

I got my entire 2013 CNY wardrobe from Forever21 cause they were having an awesome sales.

# – All stuffed in one car to visit relatives. Dad, Mom, me, G and my two brothers.

This is our only family portrait for CNY 2013. I don’t know why we don’t have a family portrait tradition. I get kinda jealous seeing other families doing it…I must initiate it next year. I also need to do that tea pouring ritual for my parents. I can’t even play mahjong. I must improve on being a chinese.

On the 2nd day we went to visit my popo in Mentakab, my mom’s mom. She’s awesome <3 She's the light of our family, always jolly and interested. Yes, she does bug me about having babies but only in a caring, loving granny sort of way. I love her so much! She was randomly telling me a story about how a young hen's egg when cracked onto a hot saucepan the yolk would stay intact, while an old hen's egg when cracked onto a hot saucepan the yolk would just disintegrate. Then she gave me a troll smile. Oh my popo! # - Here she is distributing ice cream cones to us. My lil brother, Nicklaus...his face is epic here.

Of course no CNY is complete without some firecrackers. Surprisingly it was my kaumou who was the most gungho about lighting it up.

We left Mentakab for home after that, and I have vegetated since. I haven’t gambled once. Again, I need to improve on being a chinese.

Happy lunar new year everyone! Hope the snake year will bring you abundance of wealth and great health to enjoy them. Most importantly, hope you’re surrounded by good loving people always.

Future Music Festival Asia 2013 blows my face off

I went to the epic Future Music Festival Asia (FMFA) last year and saw Chase and Status. I was mindblown.

I ended my blogpost about the party with a wish – that they would bring The Prodigy next.

I kinda thought that it wasn’t going to happen. Then I saw news that The Prodigy was bringing Warrior Dance Arena to the Australian series of festivals and I swear, I almost bought flight tickets to Australia. Just as I was about 95% set on flying all the way down under – they made the announcement.

Before I continue gushing about The Prodigy lets talk a little about FMFA 2013 itself.

It will be 2 days of epic music – the event on Day 1 will be dedicated solely to celebrate Armin Van Buuren’s legendary 600th ‘A State of Trance: 600’ (ASOT600) show. Handpicked by Armin himself…acts such as Aly & Fila, Ben Gold, Cosmic Gate, Super8 & Tab and W&W will share the stage with Armin Van Buuren, the world’s number one DJ.

ASOT600 is only one of 12 events that have been announced to take place globally this year with Malaysia confirmed as its sole Southeast Asia destination. Aren’t we crazy lucky?

As for Day 2, it will includes the likes of The Prodigy (!!!!!!!!!!), PSY, Rita Ora, Fun., The Temper Trap, Bloc Party, DJ Fresh and many more.

If you asked me, it’s cheap as chips. And compare to a pair of flight tickets to Sydney + entrance tickets….I FEEL SO LUCKY!!!

How is married life?

Have been hearing this question over and over again from completely different people eversince we got married. My default answer is, “good” or “same”.

I guess it’s a making small talk kinda question and people probably aren’t really that interested in finding out. Kind of like “How do you do?” but in a slightly more relevant context hence supposedly appropriate, not that I mind cause I ask small talk questions all the time regardless of real interest but sometimes I do find myself having to stop and think before I answer.

How is married life? Better and different.

Lets start with the “different” cause people like to take bad news first right?

I’ve been with Gareth for over over 7 years before we got married, and I was as giddy as giddy could be so I expected married life to be exactly the same as before perhaps better, only now there’s a paper that compel us to be committed to each other for FOREVER. Yeap, that’s how it feels like sometimes. FOREVER.

I call it my post-wedding jitters.

Mind you, I don’t get the jitters often…I still get crazy teenage giddy whenever I’m with my man. But it is when we fight that the fact we’re bound together till death do us part that hits me.

“WTF I am truly, really stuck with this man whose face I am thinking of ripping apart. What have I done!?????”.

I highly suspect it has something to do with my PMS where I get reduced into a raging mess of pessimism and self-pity (read: craycray.)

Is it just me or is anyone out there experiencing similar situations? Does this sound familiar to you married women?

As for the “better”, well it feels great to be married to my best friend who still grabs my ass when nobody’s looking after 8 years.

It is wonderful to know that someone who gets my jokes, who knows exactly what bitchy thought am thinking by me just raising an eyebrow, who puts up with my farts/burps and who despite my post-wedding jitters, sheer psychotic madness and serious disdain of house cleaning – is willingly stuck with me for FOREVER :)

How is married life?

I realise that married life is not a bed of roses, cause roses wilt and die, hello? Married life to me is like an earthquake/tsunami/hurricane proof house with a slide and a massive pool of multi-coloured plastic balls…cause that thing shakes and get dirty and stuff but it never breaks and you can have loads of fun in it.

Damn right.
