We’re in Calais, France. It’s our last day of #KimGarethEurotrip outside of England.

We checked out from our last hotel of this trip (we will be staying with mum-in-law for the rest of our holiday) and went sightseeing around Calais for a bit.

# – The pretty Belfry.

Then, we made sure we had a kilo of mussels each at lunch at a restaurant called Au Chalice before taking the ferry back to England.

# – Just as delicious as I first had it. Soft, tender and full of flavours.

Also made a video…

# – France by Gareth.

After that we drove to Dunkerque, 20 minutes away to board the ferry.

Very easy to pass time in the ferry as it has shops, restaurants and even slot machines. Hubs won 20 Euros with only 1 Euro as capital hehe.

As the ferry approached England, we could see the beautiful White Cliffs of Dover.

# – Magnificent!

1 hour 45 minutes later, we were driving on England again. Weird to be driving on the left side again, which of course we all agree is really the correct side ;)

We went up to the White Cliffs for a quick visit. Stunning, stunning view of the sea and the cliffs.

# – Took my breath away.

# – Hubs was there!

# – I wuz there!

After the visit, we went to grab some fish and chips, which we ate at Dover Beach.

# – Seagull #likeaboss outside chip shop.

And now we’re back on the road, heading towards the hubs hometown, Worcester near Birmingham.

It’s been almost 6 years since we’re there. Excited to see mum-in-law!

  1. Kimberly, you and Gareth have had an amazing journey in the Euro zone.
BTW, while pretending not to look cold, you look quite hot!!

You took a ferry both ways crossing the from England to France. Any particular reason you did not take the train chunnel?

From most of your travelogue, you have been able to find more good eateries than medicore.

Looking forward to your next post.

    Safe travels!

    1. Thanks for the regular comments David! We took the ferry because we wanted to see the cliffs. On the way there it was already too dark. As for eateries we use a lot of online reviews as well as just going into ones filled with locals….we’ve found some gems but also encountered a few meh ones, all part of the adventure I suppose :)
