We have seen this restaurant numerous times as our favourite pork noodles joint is on the same row, but never tried it as the place always seemed rather quiet.
Until one hot afternoon. I think we weren’t quite sure what to eat, so we decided to give the place a try.
Afterall, everytime we passed by it, there were always rows of delicious looking roast ducks hung at the front of the shop.

# – Charsiew (chinese bbq roast pork).
The restaurant is called Restaurant De’ Champion Duck.
# – De’ Champion Duck.
As usual, the restaurant was pretty quiet, but I reckoned it was because we were there pretty early.
# – Don’t understand why so quiet one.
We ordered 3 types of meats – roast duck, charsiew and roast chicken.
The charsiew was legit, great ratio of meat and fat and melted in my mouth. The roast chicken was tender with crispy skin but not that memorable.
# – Glistening charsiew.
# – Unmemorable roast chicken.
As for the duck…I was blown away! Never had I ate a chinese roast duck with such crispy skin and tender meat before. And it’s all around crispy, not just as certain places. The gravy was also proper – you could tell it was cooked from genuine duck drippings….and not substantiated with too much corn flour and sugar.
So delicious!
The last time we had such a good experience with roast duck was Onn Kee in Kepong, but their quality has since dropped. I would say the roast duck at De’ Champion Duck is better than the heydays of Onn Kee!
Served with the yellowish, fluffy oily rice, obviously cooked with either chicken or duck stock – fabulous!
# – The fluffy rice.
We also ordered the mustard stew (choi kiok). It was rich and flavoursome, but a tad too spicy and not tart enough for me.

They also sell braised duck wings, which we didn’t try. Not too sure about them haha.

I highly recommend this place for roast duck and charsiew!

Must be expensive if there aren’t many people going but delicious. Is it?
Half a duck with small charsiew and drinks came to slightly over 50…I thought quite reasonable ah
From what I saw, not a lot of people actually sit down and eat there – but a LOT tar pau from the offices in the area.
whoa, your pictures… i’m positively drooling.
With my crap phone camera also so nice right? The duck was really good!
This morning I went in the shop & plan to Tapao the Roast Duck. After checking the price with the lady boss, I decided not to buy fr them caused I think the price is on the high side.
I leave the shop immediately I say thank you to them. The response I get from them is “dont come in if cannot afford la”… & It was repeated many many times…
I think they are super RUDE & we do not owe them for not buying from them… I will definitely NOT GOING back there again…
