Maison Francaise – a French experience in the heart of Kuala Lumpur

The husband and I were invited to Maison Francaise in Kuala Lumpur for lunch on a balmy weekend afternoon, thanks Mei for the arrangement.

It was a wonderful opportunity for us to see other human beings, haha having been cooped up in our house for a long time. Since it was a weekend, traffic into the city was quite a breeze.

No special treatment for me.

So I have been brisk walking on the treadmill for 20 minutes daily partially because the husband forces me and partially because am terrified of a difficult labour.

The other day I read an American mommy blogger who is pretty fit and she gave birth naturally within 3 hours and didn’t even tear her bits. No stitches :o.

So am aiming for that!! 💪

Anyway the point of my story is that I skipped 1 day of walking so hubs was not happy (to be fair to myself I also walk Charlie everyday one for about 20 minutes on top of treadmill session so I wasn’t being a complete couch potato) so I told him that I will make up the loss by walking 30 minutes which is an extra 10 minutes for 2 days straight.

Walao… I am regretting what I said now because he wouldn’t let it go! Didn’t know I marry a slave driver. Somemore he insisted I go on treadmill AND then make supper for him WTF?????

Who said being pregnant is the best time to let your husband indulge you? I wonder when G is going to ask me to wash his car. Probably anyday now..

Anyway I have started living in this pair of leggings because they’re sooooo comfy!

Where else… H&M again lah.  Need. To. Get. More.

A Pie Thing – delicious pies in Damansara Utama

“A Pie Thing” is a restaurant that opened in Damansara Utama recently. By the sound of the name you should already know that they specialise in pies.

The restaurant is located along the row of shops facing the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP).

# – “A Pie Thing”.

While there is no halal certification, the restaurant does not serve alcohol or pork. There was one tip I read on Facebook that stated the chicken and the beef used are from legitimate Halal suppliers. How true, I do not know.

# – Open from 4pm until pies are sold out.

Nevertheless, during our time there, there were Muslim customers who visited so I think should be quite safe :)

There are a variety of pies both savory and sweet.

# – Savory pies: chicken + mushrooms, lamb, beef, spinach + cheese and others.

# – Sweet pies: nutella, smores, sweet potatoes, apples and others.

# – There is also a counter selling chocolates!

Decor in the restaurant is quite simple but still comfortable.

# – Modern and simple.

Ok, what about the taste of the pies in “A Pie Thing”? Frankly, VERY TASTY!

Crispy, short pastry with strong aroma of butter and savory fillings! The mash and mushy peas were also very tasty (I am particular and make my own mushy peas at home :P).

You can order the special combo called “The Mashacre” which includes a savoury pie, mash, mushy peas, gravy and a drink.

They also serve a variety of coffees and teas.

# – I ordered a chicken + mushroom pie while G ordered steak pie. Delicious!

# – I was there!

Of course, it’s a must to try the dessert before leaving. We ordered smores pie (chocolate with roasted marshmallow).

# – Smores pie….omggggggg.

We love “A Pie Thing”. It’s really hard to get good pies in KL/PJ, the pastries were often soggy or too hard or had uninspiring fillings.

With the presence of “A Pie Thing”, the residents of Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur can now enjoy delicious pies :)
