Manic Monday.

Been ages since I had a full day like today. Woke up at 6.30am then headed to Cyberjaya for an event. Worked till about 2pm and then went back to office, left it at 6pm. Headed straight to Canon at Saujana Resort to hand in some konked up camera. Then to AsiaCafe for a feast. Had pizza, bbq stingray, gyoza, satay and chilli squids. Feeling damn puffy now.

Bitchy girl at work lost her phone. “Why am I punished like this?”, she screamed as she stepped into the office. Isn’t it a surprise that she has no inkling at all?

Saw something that really infuriated me for a second. I’ve been ripped off about 40% of my true wages by my agency. I know there’d be a chunk going to their account, but forty freakin’ percent? This is really fucked up you know. ARGGHHHH relax the Kim!

The ripped-off part is not so much a pain in the butt than the state of the local recruitment industry today. I will have a whole post dedicated to ranting about it. For now, I need to go to bed already. Ciao peeps.

First day at work.

It’s my first day of work at a PR firm. I quite like the job and being paid RM6.80 per hour didn’t even bother me. I like the location of the office, my colleagues are cool (except for this bitchy chick; going to talk about her later) and my boss is a very nurturing lady. I used a Mac for the first time, I couldn’t stand the keyboard cause the cap lock was located at the bottom but everything else about it was way too cool. I want a Powerbook!!! Everyone, my birthday’s coming? Hehehe.

Half of today’s work was calling people up to confirm their attendance for some signing ceremony. I learnt to prepare press kits (easy peasy) and I told my boss that I could write press release too, if she’d let me try. The other half was spent browsing through various newspapers looking for any news pertaining to the company’s main clients. Not bad, getting paid for reading.

I’m only going to be there for a week though as I was only hired to take over the boss’s secretary’s work when she goes on vacation. Anyway, if all went well, I hope the boss would take me in as an intern. I’m quite keen on that.

About my bitchy colleague, she snapped at me cause I misaligned the document I was photostating, resulting in 30 pieces of wasted A4 papers. It’s my first day of work for goodness sake. She also speaks too loud, bitches about other people on the company’s telephone, thinks she’s very lucky she didn’t get the job to become Mahaleel’s PA (oh give me a break!) and brags too much about her impending trip to London (she called four people in the span of one hour to bitch about her rude roommate who refuses to start her car when/(if) she’s away in London). Still, I’ve only known her for a day, I suppose it’s too quick for me to judge.

The secretary has given me a briefing of what to do and what to expect next week. Loads of work and some stuff that I’ve never even done before (it includes things like sending mails via couriers, I’m nervous…don’t laugh :P).

Right after work, I went home just in time to find banana sundae! Dessert was awesome, thank you. After that, I went to KL to attend a relative’s wedding dinner. Always never fail to give me the giddy feelings. It’s quite sad to see that many chinese are dissing the wedding customs (specifically the angpow part lah), when really it’s just a resentment derived from their own inferiority complex. Give what you can afford, what’s so difficult about that?

Petrol price hike…again???

There’s a rumour going around saying that there’ll be another petrol price increase at the strike of midnight. The authenticity of the news is compounded by the fact that The Star had published what everyone’s calling a warning on today’s newspaper.

I drive a Kelisa. The last time I fed it, the bill came to about RM53. My eyes almost popped out. That’s about RM215 every month, for a 1.0L car. I’m really feeling for my parents. Altogether my Dad needs to sustain 7 litres worth of engine capacity. It wasn’t so bad 3 years ago, my parents could even maintain a 3.2L fuel guzzler but by the second price increase, they had to let the monster go.

I do understand that it’s important to remove Malaysians’ reliance on the fuel subsidies and we’re still considered much luckier in that department in comparison to folks in the UK or America.

But hello, cars are so much cheaper in other countries. AFTA has been nothing but a direct result of Asean’s “Loss of Face” syndrome. Lets not even touch on the subject of public transportation. Highway tolls for every 5km or less? And I still only get paid for RM6.80 per hour. That’s USD1.80 per hour!

Where do all the money saved from this petrol price increase go to? Not to another politician’s mansion renovation, his SLK500, his children’s Ferraris or some delusional nonsensencial celebration party, I hope.

I get so angry seeing all these politicians weaving thick web of lies, trying to conceal their corrupted behaviours from us. But the thing is for every one Malaysian who knows better, there are likely three more who don’t. And these people get to vote! So how? How to convince them that the landslide victories we’re giving them are getting into their heads? That they don’t give a damn about us anymore, only our money.

It’s important to show them corrupted fiends that the people have the power to choose and they shouldn’t mess with the people. Try us enough and we’ll give them sufficient white knuckles to last till the end of the next election. Really, I can’t wait to vote. I’m excited about it already.

p/s: Oh yeah, the PM should just lay it all out what he’s going to do with the petrol pricing. I’m sick of his hints and empty talk. Chinese call it, “Ghost ghost rat rat”, which means lacking of magnanimity. At least if he made it known the whole agenda right till the inevitable subsidy cut, we will know what to do with our money now.
