Weissbrau German Bistro and Bar at Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur.

This is a long overdue post but I should post it up cause we had loads of great food and fun and of course, great beers hehe. It was launch of a revamped German menu at Weissbräu German Bistro & Bar. Thanks Mei for the invitation!

There were so many familiar faces but we didn’t know who’s going to be there initially. So it was a really nice surprise :)

# – KY, Elfie, Mike & LL.

Sorry, no pictures of more food because they cleared up so quickly. Okay, that’s a semi-lie…I was too pre-occupied with dancing! :P

# – Delicious food being prepared in the kitchen.

# – German menu can’t be complete without German beer!

Anyway, it was a superb German menu, I remember hoovering up the crispy pork trotter and some sort of beetroot salad which was OMG orgasmic.

There were a bunch of local celebrities there too and they had plates of food on the table pretty much untouched cause they were busy socialising. So I decided to steal their beetfoot salad…and mash potatoes…and pork and…nevermind. I bet they didn’t even notice :P

So if you’d like some German food, pop by Weissbrau, Pavillion KL.

# – With Edward! Haven’t seen him in like forever!

By the way, I looked like I was about to pull out a gun or something :P

# – ST with Ed.

# – Got Belgian beer also..

Weissbräu German Bistro & Bar @ Pavilion seats around 30 people indoor and 80 people at Alfresco. Opens at 10:00 AM daily to 1:00 AM, reservation is recommended especially for dinner hour and weekends. For yummy food, great beers and loads of fun, I vouch for this place.

Eggplant millefeuille with fresh goat cheese and basil recipe from Chef Fabrizio

First it was divine food of Vietnam….now it’s mouth watering delicacies from Europe! Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur has brought us another gastronomical extravaganza with “Tastes of Italy”.

Headlined by the master of contemporary Italian cuisine, Chef Fabrizio, hailing all the way from Prego at The Westin Beijing Financial Street, foodies can now discover a new perspective to Italian dining experience at the Favola Italian Restaurant, Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur.

# – Favola Italian Restaurant.

# – With Le Meridien’s Executive Chef, Chef Antoine Rodriguez and Chef Fabrizio.

To my delight, Chef Fabrizio demonstrated some of his signature dishes for “Tastes of Italy” and the eggplant millefeuille particularly caught my attention. What a beautiful dish…the colours, the layers! I can’t wait to make this at home!

Allow me to share the steps to making the gorgeous dish….

For the millefeuille:

  • 800 grams of eggplant, sliced to medium thickness
  • 200 grams of flour
  • 400 grams of tomatoes, sliced thinly
  • 120 grams of parmesan cheese, grated
  • 20 grams of basil leaves
  • 100 grams of goat cheese (or any kind of cream cheese)
  • Salt & pepper to taste

For the pesto:

  • 200 grams of basil leaves
  • 30 grams of parmesan cheese
  • 200 grams of olive oil
  • 30 grams of pine nuts
  • Salt & pepper to taste

# – First, slice the eggplants to medium thickness.

# – Season generously with salt & pepper. Cover and leave to rest for 30 minutes till the water’s expelled and the eggplant slices shrink in thickness.

# – Dust the eggplant slices in flour.

# – Deep fry the eggplant slices till golden.

# – Slice the tomatoes.

# – You can use a pastry ring for a better appearance but it’s okay if you don’t. Build a millefeuille by starting with a layer of fried eggplant, followed by tomato, basil and parmesan and repeat till it reaches a desired height.

# – In the meantime, chuck all ingredients for pesto in a blender till…..hey, pesto! :)

# – Sprinkle grated parmesan cheese over the millefeuille and top with a dollop of goat’s cheese.

# – Spoon some pesto around as decoration and perch a piece of thin toast on the goat’s cheese if you like.

# – Eggplant millefeuille with fresh goat cheese and basil, DONE!

Besides this Eggplant Millefeuille with Fresh Goat Cheese & Basil, there are also over 20 items to choose from in the menu of “Tastes of Italy”. They include Crispy Seafood & Red Capsicum Risotto, Maine Lobster with Fresh Spring Herbs and many more. Of course, not to be missed as well are the desserts, with tantalising names such as Hazelnut Creme Brulee, Vanilla Floating Island, Dark Chocolate Tiramisu and Strawberry Pie with Vanilla Ice-Cream.

Besides getting a sneak peek to the menu of “Tastes of Italy”, I got to meet up with my fellow bloggers!

# – And ever gorgeous Mei.

# – BF was there too!

A la carte from RM25++ to RM130++, one can certainly live and dine like a true-blue Italian as Chef Fabrizio whips up his special Italian creations.

Delicious, authentic Terengganu food at Mek-T, Puchong.

Cindy often blogged about her mom’s cooking and I would literally froth at the mouth with envy and longing.

So, when I heard that Cindy’s parents have opened a restaurant, I was ecstatic! At last, Cindy’s mom is sharing her food with everyone else and you and I can get to taste it!

Hailing from Terengganu, a large state on the east of Malaysia peninsular famous for its islands, turtles and petroleum industry, Cindy’s mom offers delicacies from her hometown at the restaurant.

Thanks to Cindy’s parents and in particular, Mrs. Tey, we can now get to eat authentic and delicious Terengganu food right in the middle of Klang Valley.

# – Ladies and gentlemen, Mek-T!

Mek-T has a bright, clean and comfortable ambiance with nicely spaced out tables.

# – Bright, clean and comfortable.

# – If you’re lucky, you might get to be served by the gorgeous Cindy too ;)

# – The partial menu..

# – Laksa Terengganu, springy noodles served with a superb gravy and loads of fresh bean sprouts. Carol ate this and loved it!

# – Laksam, which is by far my favourite dish. Soft, springy homemade noodles served with a coconut mackerel gravy and fresh vegetables. The dollop of spicy sambal gave it a yummy kick.

# – Everything’s served in paper bowls as Mek-T is a restaurant with a fast food concept.

# – Oh, look….the perfect spoon of laksam! Fresh, flavoursome and addictive!

# – The BF digging into his Nasi Sedappp Sokmo, the house special.

# – Nasi Sedappp Sokmo, fluffy basmati rice served with delicious chicken & egg curry with a side of special tangy pineapple sambal. Epitome of comfort food!

# – We also had the Rojak, a sort of local fruit salad. Fresh, crunchy fruits with superb dressing.

# – If you’re up for something a little sweet and savoury, check out the Mek Pau Goreng, pan fried buns with luxurious red bean filling.

# – Of course, you can’t miss out on Terengganu’s most famous dish, the Keropok Lekor. Mek-T’s version is 90% fish meat so you’re guaranteed to be tasting the best Lekor you can get your hands on.

We truly enjoyed ourselves at Mek-T. Although food was quick (it’s afterall a fast food style restaurant), you could really taste that every single morsel was made with fresh, high quality ingredients.

If there’s one less than stellar thing that I have to point out about Mek-T….well, it’s the choice of music played. Cindy…if you’re reading this, can you please get rid off the rempit mat-rock songs please? Hahaha.
