For the love of stinky, gooey yellow substance with some pepper and soy sauce.

BF drove like a mad man to Cameron Highlands that we reached there 1.5 hours before everybody else. So we slept in the car right opposite Starbucks in Tanah Rata till one of his friends knocked on the car window. Now the whole world knows what my face looks like when I sleep. I think my mouth always opened one, actually I don’t want to know. Seeing all of them have cameras, I hope none of them took any picture of me with my mouth opened and saliva flowing down my chin on the side -_-

Waking up at such ungodly hours in the morning made me cranky mad woman, but if I were fed properly, started bad can also end well.

And the best thing to feed me is none other than soft-boiled eggs. Who love soft boiled eggs? I do! If I could eat them for breakfast everyday I would.

Toast and soft-boiled eggs.

I love it with my toast, over my rice, noodles & steak.

But above all I love it most on its own <3

And because it makes me so strong I can carry this ginormous lens that weighs about 20kilos (for like 10seconds) and cost the price of a small car.

This is not a filler because I love soft-boiled eggs that much it deserves a dedicated post :P

Theobroma Chocolate Lounge – I like!

Eversince that dreadful Mediterranean restaurant at The Curve closed down I was hoping that a much better establishment would take its place. When I saw that it has become Theobroma Chocolate Lounge, to be honest I was rather disappointed.

I mean, I wanted another place that serves wholesome, delicious food, preferably with pork but it’s now a place that serves everything chocolate. Well, I do love chocolates, specifically the dark bitter ones but I feel that high quality chocolates are far too valuable and delicious to be made into pralines, toppings, frapps etc. And by that logic, I automatically assumed that Chocolate Lounge would flop and that it sells cheap, disgusting chocolates in nice packaging.

Sorry, I can be that judgmental.

As it turned out, I was WRONG. Thank goodness I had a chocolate craving and thank goodness Chocolate Lounge was the first place I saw.

Theobroma Chocolate Lounge.

I ordered a Belgian bitter chocolate frapp called Ms. Coco.

I was very pleased with Ms. Coco. Normally I can’t finish chocolate/cream based beverage but this one was very refreshing. It retained the lovely dark chocolate bitterness but was surprisingly light. I didn’t leave a drop unfinished.

The bf ordered a cappuccino, which he said was good.

We also shared a chocolate strawberry waffles.

We were torn between chocolate strawberry pancakes or waffles but the staff said we should go with the latter. The strawberries were tart and juicy and went very well with the waffles, vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. Noms.

Well, I’d definitely come back to this place for a quick chocolate fix. They’ve got quite an extensive chocolate-everything menu, including the staple fondue. I won’t say the stuff is mind-blowing but the price is decent and you won’t feel like you’re chugging down confectionery chocolate goo. The nice atmosphere is a plus too.

#Porkgang Annual CNY Reunion Dinner – Poon Choi FTW

For the first of many annual #porkgang cny reunion dinner, it definitely had to be special. We considered a lot of places but eventually settled on eating poon choi because it’s auspicious, delicious and most importantly, humongous.

We kept landing on Restoran LYJ when googling “poon choi” and after reading blog reviews by Lyrical Lemongrass and Babe in the City, we decided that it was THE place to go for a huge pot of yummy goodies.

We almost didn’t get a table because the place was fully booked but luckily, someone cancelled their table so we were back in, all 15 of us. The restaurant isn’t that easy to find unless you’re familiar with Sungai Buloh or use GPS.

Restoran LYJ entrance.

We got there at around 7pm and it was quite empty but quickly filled up as minutes passed. You can see that it’s been endorsed by multiple celebrities.

Famous!

When I saw this sign I didn’t think much of it, but then Kerol pointed it out and said it’s “chu yao lou farn”. My interest was piqued and my salivary glands ran amok.

If you don’t read chinese, it means heaven served with rice, hehehe.

Typical old school chinese restaurant.

Although we were very excited about the poon choi, deep inside we were a bit worried that it may not be able to feed 15 mouths, so we asked the waitress what to recommend as additional dishes. The waitress was like, “You sure ah? Let the poon choi come 1st then you decide”.

Variety of dipping sauces – indication of what’s ahead.

While waiting for food to arrive, I browsed through the menus and spotted this:

Patin fish with D U R I A N. WTF?? Must try.

We took the RM480 one cause we wanted abalone and oysters.

But it’s Chinese New Year, so of course must “lou sang”. We ordered a small portion of yee sang just for symbolism.

Yee Sang.

Ganas “lou sang” going on.

The aftermath.

At last, the poon choi reached our table!

Check this beauty out!

First layer only.

Took a while to devour the 1st layer…

2nd layer and cannot finish.

I even wore my glasses so I could pick out what to take easier hahahaha.

But the #porkgang is never satisfied. We also ordered 10 bowls of “chu yau lou farn” or pork lard mixed in rice to eat with the poon choi goodies.

Best rice I have ever eaten. So oily, so fluffy, every bite taste of pork goodness. Hmmm. Hmmm…..

Noms noms.

And now, the people who were there:

Kerol, Suan, FA, Horng & Haze.

Tina, God, KY & Ruby. Sorry my camera kept focusing on the poon choi only :P

Me and ST and Kerol photobombing.

And at the end, all I want to say is that this restaurant is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The poon choi comes with a big plate of kailan and a plate of fruits. Lucky we didn’t order any additional food because portion was ginormous and even 15 people couldn’t finish. The taste was generally finger lickin’ good. Some may find specific stuff not to their liking but that’s the beauty of poon choi, other people may like what you don’t like and vice versa.

We had a very satisfying CNY reunion dinner indeed :D
