1st day of #KimGarethEurotrip

This was taken in front of Tate Britain.

==========

We started our day at Regency Cafe, a famous greasy spoon in London. We came out of Plimco underground  station and took a pleasant 10 minute walk to the cafe.

image

Our English breakfasts were good but while not mind-blowingly so, we were really there for the atmosphere.

It’s worth the trek as Regency Cafe is like a time capsule from the past.

# – Art and advertisements related to the cafe through the years.

Besides the English breakfast, you must absolutely order the chips. Easily the best chips I have ever had.

# – What is this sorcery?

image

The unassuming bowl of deep fried potatoes were crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I hoovered them up and I am not even a chips fan.

We then walked off breakfast by walking all the way to Tate Britain. Was nice till we reached the modern art section….there was a wall filled with some dude’s photographs of rubbish. Literally rubbish. Banana peels, KFC bones, empty food packages….

Sorry, can’t brain it.

After Tate, we went to The Houses of Parliament, hitting tourist central.

# – Hello Big Ben!

image

Of course had a look at The London Eye too. Didn’t ride on it as we didn’t think we have the patience for it.

# – Just before the rain set in.

image

It started raining soon after and I was forced to buy a crappy umbrella for 7 quid.

# – Me and my brollie.

image

Then we moved on to Millennium Bridge. Crossed it and visited St. Paul’s Cathedral. We managed to catch the choral evensong, it was beautiful!

# – On the Millennium Bridge.

image

We made our way to the West End as we were catching a musical at Dominion Theatre. Fueled up at one of the oldest fish & chips shop in London called “The Rock And Sole Plaice”. Pricey but pretty good.

# – Huge portions. Got my pickled egg fix too.

image

After dinner, we watched “We Will Rock You” at Dominion Theatre. It was really entertaining with entire music from Queen. Audience were singing along and waving their hands.

# – Packed!

image

After the musical, we went to Leicester Square. Went to M&Ms World.

So.many.colours!

# – OMG

image

And then we went back to our home away from home. What a day!

Skippys Pizza

Like I have warned previously, I am starting to wear the same clothes.

This is caused by combination of laziness, lack of fresh laundry and lack of shopping.

Sorreh…

# – Looking at the phone.

=======

I am so excited to share this on my blog. The hubs just introduced to me this food delivery that serves mainly pork. Their pork pizzas are the bombs!

Ladies and gentlemen, Skippys Pizza!

# – Pizza in pizza box. Other food in plastic containers or brown paper bags.

image

The menu is extensive. We ordered Meat Lovers pizza (stupendous), pulled pork burger (highly recommended – I think it is better than Betty’s Midwestern and it was delivery food!), some wings (good) and pork ribs in 7 sauce (this was a bit disappointing as the meat was not meltingly tender but the sauce was top class).

# – The food all plated up.

image

# – Pulled pork burger was enormous and DELICIOUS!

image

Wish I had more pictures but was seriously hungry.

Now Domino’s Pizza has a serious contender in our household. I can’t wait to try other food…especially the vinegar pork trotter!!!!!!

Jizz in my pants Sri Edaran beef noodles

Weekend casual!

======

Today we went for lunch at this obscure kopitiam/coffeeshop called Sri Edaran in Kepong because Gareth recalled that I read about a good beef noodle stall there.

We went many months before to try it but the stall was closed so I was really happy that Gareth remembered. Finally I could try the beef noodles!

image

There were a few stalls at the coffeeshop but none had english signages. Miraculously, I recognised the chinese character for cow on one of the stalls.

# – The unassuming Sri Edaran beef noodle stall.
image

When I approached, the uncle immediately asked if I wanted beef or mutton noodles. Yay, right stall!

We ordered 2 beef noodles and 1 mutton just to try. Unlike that horrendously slow Uncle Heng Noodle House in SS3 which I will forever hold a grudge against for making me waited 2 hours in a half-filled restaurant, our noodles at Sri Edaran arrived in less than 2 minutes.

# – The noodles.
image

# – Beef bits and tendons in thick beef broth.
image

# – The accompanying beef soup.
image

O M G. The beef tendons were flavourful and melty suspended in superior beef broth…the noodles springy and loose. I wanted moarrrrrrr!

The mutton was good too but I think the beef was far better.

We really enjoyed our lunch and we were happy to have found a new place for weekend lunches. Bought some for mom too who came to visit me today and she loved it.
