Future Music Festival Asia 2013 blows my face off

I went to the epic Future Music Festival Asia (FMFA) last year and saw Chase and Status. I was mindblown.

I ended my blogpost about the party with a wish – that they would bring The Prodigy next.

I kinda thought that it wasn’t going to happen. Then I saw news that The Prodigy was bringing Warrior Dance Arena to the Australian series of festivals and I swear, I almost bought flight tickets to Australia. Just as I was about 95% set on flying all the way down under – they made the announcement.

Before I continue gushing about The Prodigy lets talk a little about FMFA 2013 itself.

It will be 2 days of epic music – the event on Day 1 will be dedicated solely to celebrate Armin Van Buuren’s legendary 600th ‘A State of Trance: 600’ (ASOT600) show. Handpicked by Armin himself…acts such as Aly & Fila, Ben Gold, Cosmic Gate, Super8 & Tab and W&W will share the stage with Armin Van Buuren, the world’s number one DJ.

ASOT600 is only one of 12 events that have been announced to take place globally this year with Malaysia confirmed as its sole Southeast Asia destination. Aren’t we crazy lucky?

As for Day 2, it will includes the likes of The Prodigy (!!!!!!!!!!), PSY, Rita Ora, Fun., The Temper Trap, Bloc Party, DJ Fresh and many more.

If you asked me, it’s cheap as chips. And compare to a pair of flight tickets to Sydney + entrance tickets….I FEEL SO LUCKY!!!

Had a major meltdown a couple of days ago. I was basically in tears about every 20minutes over the stupidest things. Poor Gareth, he suffered most all of the brunt, of course.

Sometimes I think right, I consider myself pretty damn easy to get along actually….so I really can’t imagine what those women who are super dramatic in public are like behind closed doors? Patient spouses/bfs I salute you all. How do you guys do it?

I have now calmed down of course. The painters have arrived (finally!) and I am no longer a bundle of crazy & tears. Thank goodness this shit does go away!

I am sweet as a freaking jar of sugar right now compared to two days ago. Even I like myself.

Anyway, we have started giving out our wedding invitations. Shah, my amazing blog manager is the very first one to receive it :)

Actually, truth is I don’t really have the right words to describe the theme yet lol. A bit schizo but in a crazy good way! Like us!

One of my favourite desserts in the entire world is berrilicious chocolate pavlova from Delicious. I eat too many of them, too many but NO REGRETS!

The perfect ratio of crispy chocolate meringues with thick chocolate shavings, fresh strawberries and real cream. ohmaigerddddd

I tried making it but my last attempt at chocolate meringue literally fell flat. Best to leave this sort of things to the professionals eh.

Anyway where am I trying to get at? Back to my meltdown a couple of days back, so I tried to fix the emo with a dessert. Went to Delicious 1U.

Ordered berrilicious chocolate pavlova. Enjoyed every single spoon of it and then….cream ran out. Trust me when I say it has to be eaten with every element together.

I got a bit upset (naturally) because normally they have a lot of cream but this particular day it was barely enough.

Gareth coaxed me to ask for more cream. I was so sure they wouldn’t give me but what do you know, they gave me more than enough! No questions asked, and with a really nice smile too :)

I was so happy coz they really made my day. In the end I wondered if they would give me more chocolate meringue and strawberries for my now extra cream if I asked.

Kidding, I didn’t go there.

We have finally bought our marital bedsheets for the wedding.

Went for our regular 650 thread count in red. Pillow cases also red!

I made cream patisserie for the first time! Wonder what took me so long!? Those stuff are delicious!!

Stuffed them in choux buns (recipe for the choux pastry here) I haphazardly whipped up and voila, CREAM PUFFS!

Will blog it when I make more next time. I think the secret is in using vanilla beans instead of fake vanilla extract. Makes all the difference.

This qipao is 31 years old. My mom wore this on her wedding day and soon, I will be wearing it on mine too :)

My mom was a really tiny girl and according to her, the dress was loose on her.

I’m just glad I could fit in it now because I remember trying it when I was 15 and it wouldn’t even zip up pass my hips!!!

My mom has a good strategy, that I wear this while saying goodbye to guests on my reception cause I won’t be sitting down. Cause if I sat down, my belly layers will jut out. Well, thanks for the advice Mom!

Today’s dinner was pumpkin gnocchi with spinach & tomatoes in Chinoz BSC. One of my favourite foods and about the only vegetarian that rocks my socks off.

# – Top is fish & chips (ordinary) but pumpkin gnocchi below is OMGZ!

Pillowy but light gnocchi with a mild pumpkin taste with blanched spinach and tomato sauce. So simple but soooooooooo gooood!

And now….recipe for my simple tomato & ham pasta. This is a truly simple recipe and doesn’t require many ingredients. Very tasty and quite healthy too!

# – Simple tomato & ham pasta.

The ingredients:

  • 200grams of pasta (I used tagliatelle), cooked according to instructions on packet
  • 2 tomatoes, quartered
  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 slices of ham, julienned
  • 300ml of tomato juice
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • #1 – First saute the sliced onions until translucent.

    #2 – Then, throw in the ham and stir fry until slightly browned.

    #3 – Next, throw in the quartered tomatoes.

    #4 – With a potato masher, squash the tomatoes till they break down. Crying.

    #5 – Pour in the tomato juice, little by little and stir until you get the consistency of a slightly thickened sauce.

    #6 – Season with salt & pepper. Remember to taste as you go as tomato juice is quite salty on its own!

    #7 – Dump in the cooked pasta (which you of course, was already cooking while you were making the sauce) and mix to coat evenly.

    #8 – Tomato & ham pasta with a sprinkling of grated parmesan, DONE!

    Love this dish, I have made it several times actually. It’s quick & easy to make and really flavourful without having to use an entire can of plum tomatoes or herbs. You’d be surprised!
